Zetoc Enhancements

25 Sept 2001

MIMAS, in collaboration with The British Library, are pleased to announce the following enhancements to Zetoc for release today:

  1. 'Title' and/or 'Author' search facility within Zetoc Alert - so you can request email notification of newly loaded articles or papers matching your search terms.
  2. Additional 'Download' facility - allowing you to save selected records directly to your workstation in a plain text file.
  3. Choice of 'Long' or 'Short' tags when emailing or downloading records - where 'Short' is a two-character tag, e.g. AU: for the 'Long' Author, and more convenient for importing into personal bibliographic databases.
  4. Additional ISBN and ISSN search fields on the Conference and Journal search forms respectively.

Document purchase direct from the British Library will be supported from 1st October 2001. Initially only Copyright Fee Paid orders, with online credit card payment, will be available. However, support for Inter-Library Loan is currently in development.

You may also like to take a look at the range of Support material available, including a wide range of Usage Statistics online (eg Top 20 Journal Alerts) - follow the "Support" link from the Zetoc home page at http://zetoc.mimas.ac.uk.

The MIMAS work has been funded by the Joint Information Systems Committee of the Higher and Further Education Funding Councils. Additional enhancements in the Document Ordering area will arise from our participation in the DNER 'Join-Up' Programme.

Remember: the Zetoc Service is available free of charge to JISC- sponsored UK further and higher education institutions. Zetoc is also available to the Research Councils, Irish higher education institutions, NHS Regions and other UK FE and HE institutions upon payment of an annual fee.

The database contains details of approximately 20,000 current journals and 16,000 conference proceedings published per year. With over 17 million article and conference records, the database covers every imaginable subject in science, technology, medicine, engineering, business, law, finance and the humanities. Coverage is from 1993 to date and the database is updated daily. All items are guaranteed to be available from the British Library.
